How do I drop ship with USPS?

Cherin asked:

I own a business and have to drop ship an item to a customer and am not sure how to do it since it’s not how we normally ship things. I use USPS Priority Mail online, so would I just put the client’s mailing address as the return address instead of mine? Would there be an issue if I use carrier pick up and the return address is not mine? Thanks so much for your help.

No, you may not use a different Return address than the one of where the package is to be picked up. This relates to the security issues of sending through the US Mail. If you are not present at the time of pickup, the carrier is not permitted to take a package that has a different address.

One way around this is to use one of the Blue Collection Boxes. As long as your item will fit through the slot, and you generate a shipping label from an online source, you can deposit items weighing more than 13 oz into the box.

Otherwise, you will have to hand the package to a USPS employee. Your carrier may take it from you as long as you are there in person.
